Going Beyond The Distance
Identifying the Best Long-Distance Relocation Company
When choosing the ideal long-distance relocation company, it is essential to verify that the company is registered to conduct such services and holds a D.O.T number from the United States Department of Transportation. This certification ensures that they are fully licensed, bonded, and insured for your peace of mind. The company you choose should be supported with up-to-date logistics software and an experienced dispatch and scheduling team. Additionally, confirm that they provide binding moving estimates that remain fixed for the quoted services. The company should also furnish comprehensive work orders that itemize all services and associated costs, guarantee specific pick-up dates, offer direct delivery, and maintain all statuary accreditations.
Pricing
Our pricing structure is based on several factors, including the size of the space, the materials involved, and the labor needed for your move, as well as the distance between the pickup and delivery points. Seasonal demand, particularly during the busy spring and summer months, can also influence costs. Booking your move in advance can result in significant savings, especially before routes become congested or fuel prices fluctuate. Additional charges may apply for moves to remote locations to account for travel time. When available, promotional routes can provide cost-saving opportunities. We are pleased to offer discounts for seniors and veterans, which can further adjust the overall pricing. All estimates provided by Good Shepherd Movers are binding, with no hidden fees, and are not subject to change as long as the items space and services on the original work order and estimate aren’t changed by the client.
Packing
Proper and adequate packing is vital for any long-distance relocation. Inadequate packing can result in damaged belongings and unforeseen expenses, making it imperative to select a trustworthy service. At Good Shepherd Movers, we prioritize the careful wrapping and protection of our clients' items before they leave their homes and are securely loaded onto the truck. The packing process needs to be thorough and precise, leading to minimal damage, and in the unlikely event that damage occurs, it isalways covered. The skill of properly wrapping and packing items is developed through years of experience, dedication, and pride. We view this process as an art form and consider it the most critical element of the entire moving experience. Furthermore, we provide a range of packing services for customers who wish to have some or all of their packing needs taken care of, including on-site crating for specialized items.
Auto Transport
Our established partnerships with some of the best auto transport companies in the country, allow us to provide our customers with wholesale pricing for their vehicle transportation needs. This pricing is exclusively available to those who have scheduled and confirmed residential moves with our company. Customers will be informed of the pricing prior to making a booking.
Insurance
All relocations come with $10,000 of cargo insurance to protect against damages, including scratches. Many renters' or homeowners' insurance policies may also provide additional coverage, so it is advisable to review your policy or speak with your insurance agent.
Additional Fees
Extra fees may be applicable and will be indicated in the work order if an elevator is utilized, as this process takes more time and involves waiting. The first flight of stairs is included at no charge, but each additional flight incurs a fee of $75.00. Heavy and bulky items, including kayaks, riding lawn mowers, grand pianos, pool tables, and heavy safes, may also incur additional charges. All such fees will be clearly stated in the work order. It is the customers responsibility to disclose this prior to pick up and when scheduling their move.
What happens on your Move Date
On your designated move date, a team of either two or three professional movers will arrive, depending on the scale of your relocation. The driver, typically serving as the foreman, will present a Bill of Lading that details all items being transported. The moving team will come prepared with essential suppli es, including moving blankets, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, tape, dollies, hand trucks, and moving straps. The foreman will perform an inventory and condition assessment of all items prior to moving. Following this, the team will disassemble beds and furniture to ensure safe transport. Once disassembled, furniture will be padded with blankets and shrink-wrapped, mattresses will be placed in protective bags, and televisions will be wrapped in bubble wrap, padded, and secured in TV boxes. After all items are properly secured, they will be carefully removed from the residence and loaded onto the truck in a manner that optimizes space and safeguards them during transit. Upon arrival at the new location, the truck will be unloaded, items will be unwrapped, reassembled, arranged and staged in the specified rooms of your choice. A final inspection will be conducted to confirm that all items have arrived in excellent condition.
